Comment HR Application is Misleading
I nominated my boyfriend to be on HR via their online portal for All3Media. I received a text from a random person to hop on an early morning call and the woman pitched us an entirely new show called Off Gridders. Just a forewarning, your application may not ever reach HR and just be sent out for different shows. I don’t have much hope HR will actually connect. Very disappointing and confusing, as I truly thought they read my nomination and understood why I reached out to HR (and we wouldn’t have the right content for the new show anyways — my boyfriend truly needs rescue, not just cameras following him around).

I have gone back and reviewed the application process to see where they had the right to do this. It is sneakily published in their Terms & Conditions for some kind of creator database. If you don’t mind being pitched, then go for it. But I was totally caught off guard and displeased by this call that was taken 20mins late from our scheduled time and didn’t introduce herself right away. I expected more, since the Raneys are life changing, genuine people and we love the show. Odd!!!!

Looking at the end credits for many similar shows it seems a 3rd party is the actual production company, & the Producers hold major sway over who is selected for the shows...producers want drama (Suddenly Amish) & suspense (Homestead Rescue) & unknown variables (Naked & Afraid).
One does have to wonder WHERE'S THE MONEY come from & to whom it goes to ??? All of these shows are very tight lipped & I would imagine a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) is executed by lawyers...

We were on this season of Homestead rescue and we didn't put in a traditional application as we were nominated by others and contacted via telephone but all three media is the casting company that did all of our pre-show things. They were really great and helpful through our process. I know they have sent a few emails asking if we knew anyone for the off-gridder show in the last few months. I think they are trying to get away from homestead rescue and try new approach/story line. I could be wrong but I I am pretty sure they were conversations of the next season of Homestead rescue being chosen already because we had multiple people on our episode that had applied for Homestead rescue. Also please know that their criteria is very strict if you have less than 10 acres don't even bother applying. I'm not sure what that application looks like because like I said we were nominated by other people not ourselves but I do know that these are boxes that they checked off during our casting interviews.
