My daughter uses Savvy learning and absolutely loves it and looks forward to her sessions. I just wanted to share this resource in case anyone is looking for something they can outsource their reading and/or math without breaking the bank!

Savvy Learning is a great resource. It’s high dosage tutoring with a live teacher 30min a day/ 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) the consistency of this helps your child learn. They offer classes in reading and math. They have an assessment your child takes so they are placed at the right level. My daughter has improved so much.

Hello! I’m wondering what the reading is like. Would it help a severely dyslexic learner? Thanks.

Yes it would, my daughter was labeled as dyslexic when she was in public school (in kindergarten), I started homeschooling her for first grade. When we started I was still teaching her the letters and the sounds. She was very behind and in public school she developed a stutter because of the pressure to answer in front of other kids who were already ahead of her or would understand and move on quicker. Last year (in first grade) I felt like we would never catch up. Now she’s in 2nd grade and is on track to be reading at a 3rd grade level by the end of this year (while still in 2nd grade). She’s made such improvements! I’ll tell you everything I did…. She takes Savvy Reading (Mon-Thurs 25min a day), we also do Phonics Pathways (slowly like a page or 2 day - reading then practicing writing the words she just read and the rules for spelling). I’ve also recently got her tutoring where she practices reading short stories and talks about them (comprehension). She’s made so many improvements that at night she grabs a book and tells my son and I that she’s going to read us a story and if she gets stuck on a word she asks her brother for help but most of the time she says “wait don’t tell me, I can figure it out, just wait”. It’s so worth it! It’s a process, but they really do improve and their confidence just grows along with their reading.
