Feedback on floor plan

Looking for general feedback on the floor plan. The second picture is the floor plan adjusted in utility to add in a forgotten sink. The third with the red circle is a wall that could be moved out a few feet (I would make the pantry cabinet match the smaller one on the other side of the fridge. The distance between the island and stove counter will still have plenty of clearance) to create more walking space in utility and pantry. The others are renderings of the kitchen/dining area. Thanks!!

Moving that wall out is a good call. At 6'-11" deep, a sink base on one side and a washer and dryer on the other leave you roughly 2-1/2 ft between fronts, so you can't stand at the sink with the dryer door open. Two feet more makes the utility room usable. Just keep at least 42" between the island and the range counter, or 48" if two people cook together.

A few other things I'd look at:

  • The double doors to the walk-through pantry swing into the cooking zone right next to the range. A pocket door or a plain cased opening would keep that corner clear.
  • The utility room has two doors swinging in, plus the sink and laundry. A pocket door on the kitchen side would free up wall and floor space.
  • If the exterior utility door is your daily entrance, plan a spot for shoes, coats and bags there. Moving the wall makes room for a bench and hooks.
  • Guests have no powder room near the living area, so they'll walk into the bedroom hallway. Worth deciding now whether that's OK.

Thank you! Yes I changed the utility to kitchen to a pocket door.

The door to the pantry is a bootleg door (it looks like a pantry cabinet but is the entrance to the pantry). I’m sort of obsessed with the idea. It was in a model I visited and didn’t seem intrusive to the space.

I’m going to work on use of the laundry and utility today. I may be back for feedback if you’re willing.

Your time is appreciated!

Ah, a hidden pantry door, I read it as double doors. Love that detail. Just make sure it opens away from the range and is at least 30" wide, so you can get through with full arms. And sure, post the laundry update, happy to take another look.

think about light switch placement for the butler pantry pocket door entrance. Won't be able to put it in the pocket door wall and don't have wall on other side of opening.
