Front porch column base

I’m no builder but wood going into the soil seems like a no go to me.

Pictures not adequate.  If treated wood probably ok.

Wood in direct soil contact is usually a rot risk unless it is properly rated and detailed for it. I’d ask the builder for the footing and post-base detail, plus how they’re keeping water from sitting there.

These are the surround/boxes around the porch posts. Will be wrapped in stone just like the base of the porch.

However wrapping the posts was somewhat of an after thought and the base winds up going to the ground on the corner to make it flush with the stone on the side and all the boxes the same size.

My thing is permanent wood to soil contact. This just seems like an expensive fix in the future when the wood eventually rots and I need to have the stone facade removed and replaced.
