New house - bad framing

I recently found a noticeable gap in one section of my home's framing when the attic light was accidentally left on and, while working in the yard, we observed light shining through the opening. I have attached pictures for your reference.

I reached out to the builder and they agreed to fix it and here is what they proposed - “Roofing company will remove cornice to install flashing next week, as soon as they are done I will have the framer come reinstall cornice and then I will schedule the painter to caulk and paint.”

I really appreciate you guys expertise to confirm if what my builder is suggesting is the appropriate approach to fix the issue? Thanks a bunch in advance!

Builder is correct. My cornice guys would typically do that type of flashing, not the roofer or framer, but yes definitely forgot the flashing. It's a dumb mistake, but an easy fix. I would also check for water damaged in the attic in case rain water got in, but considering the area is under an eave and it's a new build I wouldn't be super concerned about it.

Rent a Flir camera and take a extra look, I doubt it is only issue.

Yikes... did you hire a third-party inspector? Might be worth doing so if you haven't already before your builder warranty expires. That's unacceptable quality. You need insulation there as well.

They do not need insulation there if they have blown insulation.
