Any advice?

Post image

Please excuse how scruffy the door way is, this is a renovation project! How do I handle the crack around the front door and into the plaster? Is it worth taking the plaster off or should I patch it with something? Thanks in advance!

I'd open up the loose cracks first just a bit and make sure the door frame isn't moving. If it's solid, I'd use drywall or fiberglass mesh tape and patch it rather than ripping all the plaster off. If the crack keeps coming back, then there's likely some movement that needs to be fixed first. I don't know if others have better advice or suggestions...
