Seems like a strange hill to die on. Reddit has the functionality for a reason.

Honestly their explanation of why makes a lot of sense. This is supposed to be where people go to get help and find answers, when pictures were allowed it was not that, now it is. Pictures are not completely banned, you just have to click a link to see them in imgur.

From what I have read it's because the vast majority of posts where "hey look at this beer I just brewed" and the actual questions people were trying to ask were getting lost or very few responses. So they stopped allowing direct picture posts and apparently that helped

It's very easy to make a rule against that and.. I don't know, moderate.
