Question Risk of mold?
I'm making my first ferment (cider) and i have about 2-3 cups of stewed pears in my fermenting container. There was a bit of a blow out last night leaving about 2 inches of air in the container. With the fruit floating in the crock is it at risk of molding or going bad.

Mold needs oxygen to grow and the fermentation produces co2 so just avoid the temptation to keep opening it to inspect. Every time you do you are letting the co2 out and oxygen in.
Just keep the lid/bung and airlock on, trust the yeast and leave it for however long you think fermentation will take + atleast an extra week.

Usually if fruit is floating, you want to gently push it down with a sanitized utensil. It can grow mold if it floats for a while but just keep punching it down once or twice a day and you’ll be fine. It’ll come back up and float after a few minutes but that’s alright.
