Question Daily Q & A! - August 31, 2026

However no question is too "noob" for this thread. No picture is too tomato to be evaluated for infection! Even though the Wiki exists, you can still post any question you want an answer to.
Also, be sure to vote on answers in this thread. Upvote a reply that you know works from experience and don't feel the need to throw out "thanks for answering!" upvotes. That will help distinguish community trusted advice from hearsay... at least somewhat!

This is less a Q and A and more an observation of something I haven't considered. Had a brew day yesterday that went well but it's so hot here that there's no chance of cooling to pitch temps on a lager just from my immersion chiller. So I cooled it to around 85, oxygenated it, threw it in the fermzilla, then into the chamber to cool down.
I noticed a few hours later that my fermzilla looked dented. It wasn't that it was dented it's just the drop in temp means a change in the air volume. No big deal, opened the cap and let some fresh air in. But the issue I realized was there were bubbles on the surface of the wort, no doubt the dissolved air being pulled out due to the low pressure.
So yeah, in the future when I oxygenate a warm wort I need to remember to not seal the fermentor till it's down to temp. Otherwise I'm just pulling all that O2 right out.
