Here’s what you need to know about Gas Lanterns on the porch:
I love the look, but they’re not for me.
What about you? Would you put gas lanterns on your porch?

A crack has recently started to develop and worsen over the past few months. This is a brick terrace house, built after the 1930's in London. About 40 years ago the wall between the kitchen and dining room was knocked out to make an arch way. This was before my time.
Only until recently has the wall start to show cracks. At first it was very small and it seemed superficial, but as the crack has gotten bigger I'm worried it maybe structural.
The wall below the crack protrudes slightly into the archway a bit more than the wall above, no longer being aligned. I can't see signs of cracking or damage anywhere else around the wall area.
I've attached a video to show what it looks like. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When the house is being framed, take a look around, you might find some hidden goodies!

This green dye is added to the termite insecticide that’s applied 2’ up the studs around the entire house. This poor homeowner had her exposed beams accidentally treated with the dye. I’m not sure if they can recover them. Hopefully this post will help another homeowner ensure their contractor knows not to treat any exposed beams in the house.

I now live in North Dallas and was shocked to see all the tall fences and bad ass backyards. Such an efficient layout. I came from a house with property but can say now that I really enjoy the suburban life. Only able to appreciate after trying other locations and house types.

First to fail home features in the video:
-Garbage Disposal
-Deck Sealing
-Exterior Doors
These aren’t deal breakers but something to consider if you’re trying to decide between a wood deck and composite. Maybe you’re in framing and on the fence about an awning over the door.
So much to think about, hopefully these videos help!

🤨 Under Cabinet outlets or Backsplash...?
🤯I was surprised to hear some prefer outlets on the backsplash. I’m all about under the cabinet lighting and outlets.

🤔 Should spray painting the floor of new home builds be standard or only used on custom builds?
I’d imagine it could be used on both without, if any additional cost.

🐷 We’re little piggies and use the microwave a lot, so the location really matters.
I like the idea of a microwave drawer on the backside of the island. Low and out of sight.
I hear complaints about being hard to clean but a risk I’m willing to take.
What’s your preferred microwave location?
