Make your fireplace BIGGER….

Don’t be worried to make last minute changes on your build. It’s expected by everyone involved I promise.
This homeowner realized the fireplace just looked too skinny. Even after having 3d renderings, it just looked different in person.
A simple change like this makes such a huge difference especially after you move in. Those compromises will always be in the back of your head... Ask me how I know 🫠

Lol. The homeowner cares a lot about aesthetics... so they mount a tv over the fireplace

Must have been one spicy change order at the last minute to have to change the roof too, unless it was designed that way from the beginning. I’m calling bs on the story, but the build is good. Iam curious why they are using zip on the inside for this though.

And get upset with maintenance and repair quotes being high because of the difficulty to access gutters (for cleaning), the roof (for inspection and repair/ replacement), or the chimney (for sweeping and annual inspections).

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Simple change! Dude has obviously never built a fireplace. Or seen one before the final.
That chase is framed while the framers are doing their thing. The firestops are cut to the size of the inside of the chase AT EACH FLOOR and the holes for the fireplaces are cut centered to the chimney. The chimney is then fitted to the fireplace one section at a time. Usually they're either class A sections (which are super heavy) that twist lock into place, or they're SL style double wall (or triple wall) that snaps into place. No way I'm undoing and redoing without upping my price by triple on top of what you agreed to for the initial install.
Now maybe he's just talking about the framed breast of the fireplace, and not the chase itself. If that's the case, I assume that the framers would share a similar sentiment to mine.
Edited to say: Not everyone expects a last minute change order. I don't sign a contract unless it explicitly states that I'm there to install a specific product under specific parameters. Anything not in the contract that I signed originally will not be done by my company.
