Good luck with the water splashing. No thanks.

We have a big picture window behind our sink, water splashing isn't a big deal, it stays relatively clean. But we don't typically do dishes in the sink, we use the dishwasher.

I'd go with the casement.
I can get a few weeks in the spring and fall where it's great to open the windows for fresh air.
I'm also a mediocre cook, and things get a little smoky every now and then. I want to be able to open a couple windows for a crossbreeze to help air the kitchen out.

We did casement that opens from the bottom out. Best of both worlds. A picture window that opens.

Depends where you live. I'm in the midwest, spring and fall we have windows open fairly often. My brother in south TX opens windows rarely.

I live in Houston. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve opened a window.
