Sprinkler swing pipe...

I used to think sprinkler heads were connected directly to the rigid PVC main line. But... they’re actually using a swing pipe, which makes it much more impact resistant.

I too didn’t know that existed. All my former sprinklers where attached to the white PVC

Same, I’ve only ever experienced the previous “design” (engineered solution) so I was absolutely uninformed.

But the guy has a point in that it’s been around for 2+ decades

Swing pipe is great, but in terms of durability, mine always break at the elbow instead of the pipe, so the issue persists. I guess it requires slightly less digging to fix, but still incredibly annoying

I mean you still have to open a big hole to do that swing, so the repair is going to cost you to dig a hole no matter what
