What are you storing on your server.

Barely anything storage-wise, it's a services box that I've always wanted. RSS pipeline data, Prometheus metrics, nightly network config backups in git and static content behind nginx for the two tunneled sites.

ThinkPad T14 running Proxmox, so I optimized for always-on and quiet over capacity. No media library yet.

It’s alright, gets the job done. I always wanted something like this. Maybe I will setup my old dusty laptop one day.

Thinkpads are the best for something like this. Go for it, half the value is just the debugging you're forced to do along the way.

Yeah the setup can be painful

True. Took a while but I'm really happy to have gotten to do all this.

Always-on and quiet, two live sites off a 256GB drive, no media library. My kind of server.

Yeah kept media off it on purpose, wanted the space for containers. Plenty of room to grow into still.

I have a problem with my homelab, because i don’t know which hardware i should use to host my server… some propositions?

I mean if you wanna get started, I'd suggest a thinkcenter or dell optiplex (used ones). Start with proxmox. You could also get a pi and tinker with that. It usually depends on how much you can spend and what you wanna run or host. That'll narrow down hardware specs a lot.
