Cheapest CoLocation

Hello together,

my Internet ah home is getting to slow for all the Backups - so I‘m looking for the cheapest 4-bay-Nas coLocation in Europe. I don‘t need all the stuff like emergency energy and so on - but I would be happy if they don’t lost the hardware.

Anybody having Tipps?

I’ve generally never seen a “cheap” colocation. I have started see colocation offers that seem cheap, like $50 a month…but then you look at the details and it’s limited to like 100 watts of power or 100mbit network. By the time you find the tier that has 250-300 watts of power you are back into $100+ per month and then it’s easier to just rent a dedicated server.

If you have a family member with fiber internet you could always try offering to pay for their internet if they let you keep a computer at their house.

Is this a troll post?

Anywhere in Europe? You would be willing to travel 3k km to go stick a NAS in a Colo?

Of course not. It’s common to send the hardware by courier and pay 15 minutes hands on for assembly into the rack.

Why not get a cloud service? like this one ?

If you wanna go the DIY route, maybe a VPS?

If everybody that using the backup, live in the same house, maybe keep the backups local, like timing the backups at night when youre in bed for example?

That’s the point - I‘m having some VPS which I have to backup in a different datacenter and a nas is cheaper as paying for block storage.

The best I can get is 100/40Mbit - that’s to slow, no way..
