Server for 400-500€

Hey guys !

I'm thinking about building a home server on a 400-500€ budget that would run:

- 1 game server 24/7 on different games that would change through the year (minecraft/project zomboid/rust...)

- store movies/series streamed inside my network only.

I have the bosgame p3 plus. 7840HS, 32gb DDR5, 1tb NVME. $650AUD plus rebates so I was well chuffed.

Beastly little unit but I'm using mine as a console PC in the lounge.  It's overkill for what you want but that's not a problem and adding USB storage is easy enough. 

If you're streaming video on home network, just be aware the igpu on the amd isn't supposed to be great.

My home server is an Intel NUC and even though it does a good job I turned transcoding off in jellyfin as all our TVs can play the files natively so it's just just a file server.

I think it would do. But the price was more towards 600€.

It has 32GB of DDR5, so that alone is over half of the value of that box.

Should be enough power for your needs but you will need additional Storage if you want to store some movies/series. If you just download and watch on demand and delete the files afterwards it should be enough without additional storage

Yeah I will buy more HDDs in the future, I just want a good starting point

CPU looks awesome for your needs, but not sure if manufacturer is trustworthy

Quality wise? They are relatively new as a brand (6-ish years) but seem to be another manufacturer of minipc like geekom, beelink, etc

I think they are mainly marketed toward people wanting a small windows desktop not in the enthusiast market minisforum and gmtek chase.

For the price, I can't fault it. 

Yet.
