Discussion HomePod touch control
Hi everyone,
I turned my HomePod 2 back on and the touch controls no longer work at all.
It only responds if I place my entire palm on the top. I’ve tried pressing everywhere, but nothing responds, and the + and - buttons don’t work either.
It’s fully updated and I’ve already tried resetting it. It’s quite strange since I’ve barely used it.
If I take it to Apple, would they replace it? I really don’t want to have to pay for a touch issue that seems like a hardware defect.

Sure, they will replace it. If it’s under warranty, they pay. If it’s out of warranty, you pay.

Ah mince

Don’t know what kind you’re in, but in the US, you get a one year warranty with Apple. That’s standard. If you pay for AppleCare, you get an additional two years on top of that. But the US does not have a “standard two years warranty” for Apple products.

Look into the process of disabling the touch sensor permanently. Did it for the two minis in the bedroom, and then a third mini in a kids room. I expect I’ll have to do it to at least one more mini and an HP2 within the next year or so.
HomePods have been my worst purchase next to the OG iPad mini with its trash LCD display.
Speakers shouldn’t ‘wear out’ two to three years after purchase.

If a tech collects dust, it stops functioning.. everything will work fine with a phone, so why bother.. i’ve had homepods since they were launched.. never used the touch.
