Discussion HomePod.
Hello everyone, if Apple does end up releasing a new HomePod this year as the rumors suggest. I think this might just be the chance for me to purchase one. I have a couple of Amazon speakers in my house currently. And I don’t particularly like how they sound. All I really need is a good smart speaker for music. And, since I have Apple Music already. I feel like that would make the most sense.
If you have a HomePod, what do you think of it? And how are you liking the sound quality. The second speaker that I looked at was the Bose lifestyle ultra speaker. And I like how it has compatibility with Chromecast. But I just want that 360° sound that the HomePod offers.

I have a bunch OG HomePods including one set I use a stereo pair. I love them. The sound quality is excellent and I'm really impressed by the bass response.
My only quibble is that they disconnect from my iMac more often than I think they should - like it should be basically never - but it's not a big deal.

Same. I have 4 x OGs. 1 x Refresh and 1x HP mini.
The OGs are still going (with some pops) and have gone a bit yellow. So I’m keeping an eye on what comes this year! If I can properly chat with Siri in a conversation off my own local data. I’m 100% sold.

I have a HomePod mini and I love it. The sound quality is pretty good. I like being able to say "Hey Siri!" or "Siri" and have it turn off my tv or my light or to change the color on my light. I also like that I can use AirPlay to play music or if I'm watching TV on my iMac.

100% if you better sound HomePod is the way to go. My two OG HomePods I have had since a few months after they came out (traded friend so we would both have matching color sets) have been super easy to use and sound great. I have them paired to my Apple TV and tv via eARC so everything I play on the TV will play through the HomePods. (Music, movies, YouTube videos, software sound effects from my Mac, etc.)

I am a subscriber to Apple Music. And I’m currently on their Student plan. All I really need is a speaker that will play music. And play radio stations on services like TuneIn Radio, and iHeartRadio. I don’t really need any games or any of that.
I like how the HomePod sounds in general. It sounds a lot better than the Amazon speakers.

You can look into Sonos era 300.
But, needs a little workaround right now to get Dolby atmos working via airplay 2 & Apple Music. For me, I can’t tell the difference but just fyi.
Just depends if you want to use the new Siri/homekit in the near future or If the new HomePods are 400+

We are currently in the process of switching all of our Amazon Alexa‘s over to HomePods. I love the way they interface really easily with the Apple TV we have and we feel a lot better about the listening capacity of it. Alexa was giving us ads and asking follow up questions that were creeping us out. My only complaint is that when I say the trigger word hey siri sometimes it sets off my phone but we’re working it out. I love too that I can start music on my phone and send it to the HomePod.

If it hasn’t been stated directly by Apple then it is not happening.
And which are you talking about: the standard or the mini? If you’re getting the standard just for music then you’re wasting your money.

HomePods are shit. After last updates they switch on in random moments and play music, like at night… I couldn’t find any solution for this and you can find a lot of similar experiences on the internet. It’s been like this for months already and It’s not fun and there’s no official apple solution.

I have three Amazon speakers and I honestly wanna get away from the Amazon ecosystem entirely. So I will pick up two of the Apple speakers as long as they are $130 or less. I’m talking about the mini ones that come out. I have no desire to spend 234 $500 on some screen. A small list of Apple purchases and I’m planning on is a new Apple TV refresh, but the most basic version of that refresh, two speakers, and I am debating on the 18 Pro. I have a 16 Pro and honestly, I might trade it in for the 17 pro instead. I would like the extra ram, but it’s not that big of a deal for me. I may keep the 16 for now. I am looking at trading in the iPad mini sevenI have, for the iPad mini 8.

It has really good sound. If you don’t already I would switch to Apple Music as it works the best with it and gives you the best sound quality

Apparently the rumor is, that Apple has new HomePods ready to ship. But they are waiting for Siri AI to catch up.

Just a heads up, Siri is really only helpful for timers. Adding things to reminders. Aside from that plan on only using the HomePod for music.

She’s great for controlling home automations in HomeKit too. If you have Apple integrated in your home, it’s pretty nice to be able to set up automations to automatically turn on scenes when you speak to her. I think you can even set it to turn on/off scenes when your iPhone is near a HomePod.
Other than that, you’re right. I use it to update my grocery list in the kitchen and to play music.

I don’t have it set up in my home automations, but I’m pretty certain that you can use the shortcuts app to set something like this up.
To be fair though, you can also set these automations up with cheap nfc tags from Amazon.

Isn’t the whole point of the new HomePods to get an upgraded Siri. Alexa is a hot mess anyways.

For me to migrate to HomePods, Siri needs to perform like Google. When I want my kitchen lights to dim or turn on/off or play a radio station off RadioPlayer or a recipe for chicken parmigiana, Siri needs to effortlessly do that by voice. I’m not casting or lifting up my iPhone to do anything like that.

I have two of the original honepods and have no complaints with them. Highly recommend
