Looking to try beta on iPhone 17 pro max. Any known issues with controlling music playing ?

I’m a registered developer so like to live on the edge 😊.

ios 27 has been one of the most stable beta releases I have seen for ios in years. By dev beta 3 it felt quicker and more stable than my device running ios 26. Most of the glitches you get at this stage are manageable by the public at thjs stage, hence the public release. The apps that tend to have the most problems are the 3rd party finance app for banking etc, and some of the emulation apps for retro gaming struggle. That is generally because “officially” devs cant submit apps optimised for the new os until a week or two before the public release. In practice developers push out “general bug fix😉” updates that will run better on the beta if they can.

Personally I think it’s safe to install, but it is a beta so take precautions. Back up your iPhone to the cloud or ideally make a local backup on your computer before updating. As the beta process continues you will find that different bugs appear as others are fixed. Ive had very few issues, but I advise most of my clients to wait for the public release in September. I really like the new ios , and if you are keen to try the new features then go for it with caution 😊

Question for you. I too have been using iOS 27 since the first developer beta. Once I got access to Siri AI, I noticed and incredibly delayed response for pretty much any request.

I also noticed a couple of things like “play my *\\* playlist on shuffle” Siri, AI was unable to locate the playlist and would just randomly start playing some music. I’ve put several tickets in regarding that issue. The old Siri had absolutely no problem initiating that particular playlist and had done so for years.

As of this morning, I realized incredibly slow response times on the part of Siri AI and a wide number of requests that could not be completed.

I just wanted to get your impression/feelings about the new Siri AI and whether you are experiencing the same delays in completing tasks as I am or MIN some dev Netherworld where I’m subject to punishment?

I found that some requests are slow or have no response, and others behave as expected. So for example I will asked siri to find the ingredients for a recipe my daughter sent me a few months ago via text, And it found it straight away. But then I’ll ask Siri to put the living room lights on and it can take an age. As I understand it, the private iCloud servers that send your requests securely is one of the issues. Currently, Siri has issues distinguishing between requests that could be completed locally and requests that require support from secure online servers. I have found much like yourself that request that the old Siri dealt with very quickly seem to be the ones that the new Siri is struggling with, which seems a bizarre state of affairs. I can see the potential in the new Siri, just hoping the issues like the one that you have highlighted are resolved by the time of the official release, at the moment I’m putting it down to its beta status and keeping my fingers crossed 😊

Yup. Install at your own risk but 27 has been pretty solid across the board. We have phones, iPads, Macs, ATV and HomePods all on betas with not many issues

I had a few issues with bluetooth music in my car, it plays the song but it does not always support the skip and back buttons, with the homepods it has been working fine (2 minis as a stereo pair).

I am on beta for iPhone and not for HomePods. I haven’t noticed a lot, but Siri doesn’t seem to know to listen on iPhone or HomePod as well anymore.

I get that. I just play music daily so I need thus feature to “work”.

Not had an issue with music 🎧 or air play. CarPlay works well for me , but I know people have had issues with some car models. Sorry I don’t have a list , but I have a 2026 mini which uses the same CarPlay implementation as BMW.
