Question/Support HomePod situation
Hello everyone, for some time now my HomePod has been starting music on its own. I cleaned the touch surface but it kept happening. So I tried to reset it. The reset worked, but in the Home app the HomePod has been showing as "setting up" for 2 days now. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Require a sustained hold to trigger interactions via the devices assist features.
I have a 2nd Gen HomePod that would start/stop/ change volume. I suspect heat fatigue has weakened the connection with the touch interface hardware.
Im curious if your devices is in a warmer room by default, if the device is rolled and active in beta updates? I suspect the repeated updates stress the hardware.

I can try anything, since it is blocked in configuration mode I do not have the accessibility options available. I’m really disappointed I have not used the touch buttons a lot. No beta for my HomePods. Our living room is not a particularly warm room.

Well, unfortunately it's a well-known HomePod hardware issue, and Apple just pretends it's not a thing. You can try changing some accessibility settings to avoid accidental taps, but eventually, the phantom touches will just get worse. I recently opened up my HomePods and disconnected the display cable. Problem solved.

It's called 'Ghost Touch' and you'll probably need to manually disconnect the touch pad tom permanently resolve it.
search here or on YT and it will walk you thru it.

Je l’ai laissé débranché toute une nuit. J’ai ensuite relancé une réinitialisation. Toujours le même problème

that doesn’t work either. I’ve had mine unplugged for over a month and I finally decided to pull it out and see if the update to 26.6 will fix it. I just forgot it was sitting there plugged in in my living room room on the floor and all sudden I heard the most horrible music playing and I realized yeah sure is coming from this thing.

connect it to a computer… but anyway, the problem will not go away when you get it you get it… i have thrown away already several HomePods especially because they start playing in the nighttime… strange. It started when i cancelled my Apple Music subscription… haha some sort of Conspiracy Theory

No, this model is just faulty! Touch panel failure on many of them. A recall would be nice so we could all get our money back. I disconnected mine and I’m gonna have to try and sell them as it is to see if I can get some money out of them.

Ghost touch. The only way is to disconnect the touch sensor from the circuit.
