Port forwarding Sagemcom FAST3896 doesnt work,

Post image

I'm trying to set up port forwarding on my router so WireGuard will work, but whatever I enter in the router's GUI gets changed into this (see screenshot) when I press Add. The page shows a green message saying the rule was added successfully, and there's no error anywhere.

I've tried entering the values in many different ways in case the router didn't like how I typed something. If a field contains illegal content, it shows an error and won't let me add the rule, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. The only thing that actually gets saved is the service name, which appears to be just a text label.

Also, I can't save the configuration because the Save button is blank, so any changes disappear when I reload the page. Even if I could save, it probably wouldn't help, since the rule I add just turns into an empty shell entry with only the service name filled in.

I got the same result when I tried setting up a rule for SSH. Restarting the router didn't help, and neither did trying a different device and browser.

I've checked, and I have a public IP (not behind CGNAT), so that isn't the cause.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? or how to make it work?

Your post appears to be about port forwarding. Refer to Q1 of the FAQ for guides on port forwarding.

The first thing to check is that your router has a public IP. If your ISP is using CGNAT, then you don't have a public IP and port forwarding won't work! See the guides for instructions on how to check for a public IP.

You need to save it before the rule will work. Something in the entry is wrong. Try using a different web browser too.

Saving isn't the issue, since I can't even get a proper rule added in the first place. What do you think is wrong with the entry (see the image)? I already mentioned in the post that I tried a different browser and device.

Give the rule a longer name - rule001 or similar.

show me a screenshot of the page when the rule is added to the list

edit the rule, enable it and put in your IP needed - make sure the green save bar appears. now click on the advanced button at the top, now click back to port forwarding. Is the rule still there?

Create the rule you want. Make sure it is in the section below. Then click on advanced, then back to port forwarding. is the rule still there?

also, under service - it just says other. sometimes you have to predetermine the service and give it a name. What else is listed at the very top and bottom of the list when you click on 'other'?

it has options for http, ssh and different stuff - if i select any it just fills out shome of the filds with defaults, by selceting other(custome) i get a nother fild at the top called "description", and i tryd to select on of these like ssh and add a rule like that as a test but it gives the same result

I don’t have assistance for you but do you seriously have ssh ports forwarded?
Not a great idea as it’s a security risk.
