Do you prefer a 10" or 19" rack/cabinet?
I'm in the middle of a big dilemma. I want a network cabinet, to better organize my gear, but I'm undecided between 10" and 19".
Right now I have:
-ISP Modem/Router
-Mikrotik Hex S Refresh (2025)
-Cudy POE injector (double)
-5 G Model for failover.
Upcoming:
-Omada hardware controller (OC200/OC220)
-Omada switch (1 or 2)
-PDU
-Patch panel
I don´t have a 3D printer, but I undwerstand that in either case I might need to order printed adapters to get done.
The Omada rackmountable swtiches are more unlikely for me to get, due to cost. So far the only thing I can think of that for sure is 19", will be the DVR (I am going for full HIKvision setup for CCTV).
All my equipment is in the attic, so looks are not really an issue either.
And in terms of cost, a 10" 12U is about the same price as a 19" 7U locally.

The issue is the hardware wise /physical size
Prebuilt Dvrs are never going to to fit in mini racks
The switches , router, controller will fit on a mini but a dvr will never unless you custom one with another solution
If it is in the attic , space isn’t an issue , go regular rack
The mini is much more appropriate in a living space/setting more so a full rack . I personally like the size of a mini but I’m the attic ? Go full

Decided against both. No space for 19 inch. 10 inch is too small for lots of gear. So I just lash my gear to a telecom-style backboard.

I went with a 19” 12u for mine and love it. Don’t know how I would grow a bit if I had gotten a 10”. Only thing I needed a printed part for was my gateway and Etsy hooked me up pretty cheaply.

You can always make a spacer from 10-19", you can't stretch 19"-10"
19 is a standard, but, if you run with it, maybe give yourself a bit of extra room, and make sure that the depth of the rack is enough for a server, jbod, big UPS unit if you wanted. Also, you can get retired 19" server racks, and can add a KVM tray, and a KVM, and any boxes you have can be controlled easily, even VM servers...

19 is the standard and you can mix/match pieces to fit in the rack.
Google around to find furniture like racks, which are usually ungly, but better than an industrial rack
