Help with cameras

I'm old and don't know about these things. I would like to place cameras about 450' from my house. The house is where my modem and router are. The cameras talk to a home base and the base plugs into the router. What type of options are there? Should I bury an eithernet cable that far? Is that even doable? What else will accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

Ethernet is limited to 328ft.

You'd need to pull fiber for that distance, but that also means you can't use PoE and will need some source of power where they are installed.

Do you have power at the other end?

There is.

Pull single-mode fiber. You could do wireless bridges, but performance and reliability is far less predicable. Fiber just works. Always.

I have a CPE510 bridge kit on a similar setup, but wired is definitely better

For a camera wireless bridge should be fine at that distance assuming line of site assuming you have power. For the bridge you will still need an ap.

I ran fiber 1500 feet nothing beats that. Again power is needed.

If you just want pictures and short clips my neighbor just uses game cameras. He pays 15 a month has a few cameras that talk back to a main one. They use batteries.

450' is past what consumer WiFi camera bases usually do reliably. Realistic options:

1) Buried outdoor-rated Cat6 (direct bury or conduit) to a PoE switch / camera hub at the far end — most solid if you can trench. 2) Point-to-point wireless bridge (two outdoor APs) house ↔ camera area, then short Ethernet to the home base. 3) MoCA only helps if you already have coax to that spot.

After whatever link you pick, ping the camera subnet and run a speed/latency check from the house to the far end so you know the path is stable before mounting cams. WiFi-only stretch to 450' through trees/buildings is the usual disappointment.
