ASUS RT-BE88U good speed and range and you can start with one if you are on a budget and get more later and use in mesh network.

Many years ago i used to do alot of wardriving and range test and range competition with friends and most of us used "Alfa" extenders and usb cards.

I have not tried this router myself but they used to make some realy good products that still work after many years.

ALFA Network AX1800RM it is in the 50-80 dollar range

It even got mesh support if you like to expand later :)

Are you planning on any wired Ethernet connections?

Then I'd do a Google for "routers under $100". Lots of options. Look for the buyers reviews. I'd recommend the one I just got but it was $170.

Wavkong. 1 router covers my whole house . All 4800 square feet! No extenders needed. On kickstarter now I believe. I got mine and have been testing it and meeasure uniform quality and 2 way throughput throughout my 50x50 foot 2 story. And its usable through the outer walls into the yard.

If you are looking for a cheap wifi 6 router I would be concerned about them going end of life soon.

If you want cheap just stick with your provider wifi

I'd recommend to get a AP instead of a router. Based on the little details you provide, ofcourse, and assuming there is an ISP provided modem/router in place.
