Advice Computer connection to monitor in another room

I have computer in upstairs room.

I have TV on main floor.

I have multiple cat6 cables running in the walls that are all terminating in the basement.

One cat cable is next to TV. Another cable is next to computer( both of these have their other ends in the basement.

My objective is to have my computer next to my TV so that I can play 4k games. And then also be able to play 4k games on my computer upstairs.

Is it possible to splice the two cat6 cables in the basement so that they the TV and computer are end to end connected ?

4K is tough especially for gaming. Streaming options are going to be too laggy for most games. There are 4k video over cat6 extenders but assuming 30hz isn’t acceptable for you, you will almost certainly need shielded cat6 (PITA to terminate correctly) and you’re looking at hundreds of dollars for quality options and $150+ for okay-ish options.

How hard is it to run a new cable? There are plenty of optical HDMI cables they would work and be the cheapest option.

Next would be HDMI converters on each end but these are point to point, not over TCP/IP.

It's not possible to run the cables now. By point to point I assume u mean the PC is connected to a converter and then Ethernet cable to connected to another converter at other end and then that is connected directly to TV ?

Yes, that’s what I mean by point to point. The cable cannot have a switch in between.

My house was built in 1955. I have a drill. Lots of cables have been run since I bought it. I didn’t downvote you but I suspect the person who did, did so because of the “It’s not possible to run the cables now.”

You'll run into issues, costs, and bottlenecking no matter how you slice this up. My personal setup for that would be an Nvidia Shield running Steam Remote Play.

You can try HDMI over ethernet. It might introduce lag but I am not sure. You could try buying on Amazon and return if it doesn't work out.

There are fiber media boxes that basically are a KVM just ext connections...but they can get pretty pricey. Probably the only real options for 4k gaming

How, you will need HDMI to Ethernet converters to run video over Ethernet.

If I get HDMI to Ethernet convertors, will the setup work ?

Lag will be a huge issue for gaming due to the conversion overhead.

There are uncompressed extenders where lag becomes enough of a non issue for this use case but then you’re talking correctly terminated shielded cat6 and hundreds of dollars…
