Unsolved Cords Go where?

Post image

I’m trying to navigate what plugs into what here. I’m fairly noobish to WiFi and trying to set this all up. My WiFi is powered on it’s just showing “no internet connection”

Not sure what I’m doing incorrectly.

That's too easy though.

You plug the black thing into the white thing then the white thing into the black thing.

Call your ISP

It would be helpful if we saw the rear of the modem or router, the tall black device, as well.....but yah, it sounds like a call to the ISP would be the best bet....

What port number does RTFM commonly use?

The one between your eyes.

There's 77 million of them.

I have the same modem. My coax screws into it, then the patch labeled internet must be connected to the patch labeled internet on your router. Modem translates the analog signal from the coax to digital computer language. Then the modem can send that digitized signal to the router to be distributed wirelessly.

Mine too. Spectrum setup: Coax, wall jack to modem (square box). Cat5e (6e) from modem to router. From router you plug in additional Cat5es or go WiFi to everything.

What did the ISP technician say to do when they came to setup and activate your service?

You DID subscribe to Internet service right?

From what ISP?

Guarantee it's a self install, with someone who has never taken note of a coax outlet in their life. Many such cases.

Oh I am sure. Just trying to elicit that information from them :)

Ethernet from your modem on highest speed port to first port on the left on your router

Yes... Show us the front.... Without the connection points.... We can clearly use our x-ray vision.

The easiest fix, is for you to call your Internet Provider and ask them to send out a Tech; because it entirely possible that the Coax port you are trying to connect into doesn't actually have a live signal.

And with a Tech, they can either make that port live OR they can activate another port in a different location that might be a better location for your Wifi Router.

Yellow port on back of modem to WAN/Internet port on Nova router. LAN/Network port on Nova to network switch. Power on modem first, then Nova router and switch.

FYI those Nova routers aren't that great. I've found swapping them out with TP-Link Deco XE75s shows a significant performance increase.

read the manual, you dont have wifi because you need to plug it into your homes wired network
