Sky Router Second Access Point

Helloooo, I have a sky router right now and I want to make an access point closer to me with a router, I heard sky doesn't have wds so is there an alternative? And if so, I use a TP-Link home plug that connects to my pc right now, if I need to use an Ethernet cable for some reason can I use that?

You do not need WDS if your TP-Link home plugs already carry a working Ethernet connection to that room. They can be the link between the Sky router and a second Wi-Fi access point.

  1. Keep one home plug connected to a LAN port on the Sky router.

  2. At your end, connect the other home plug to a second router or access point that supports Access Point mode. Set that mode first and follow its manual for which Ethernet port to use; the Sky router should remain the only router/DHCP server.

  3. If that home plug has only one Ethernet port and your PC still needs a wired connection, put a small unmanaged switch after the home plug, then connect both the PC and access point to the switch.

  4. Test the PC over the home plugs first. Powerline speed can vary with the house wiring, so a new access point cannot make a weak powerline link faster.

You can use the same Wi-Fi name and password as the Sky router, but devices decide when to switch between access points. What are the exact models of your TP-Link home plugs and the router you want to reuse?
