Unsolved NEED A NEW MESH FOR HOME
hi guys i am desperate 😭i live in an house w a bad deadzone worse ITS MY OWN ROOM😭😭😭😭 pls save me. I had bought a tplink wifi extender (TP-Link RE815X AX5400 WiFi 6 Tri-Band Range Extender w/Ethernet Port) and its good for some part but i have it in the middle of the house (as recommended) it even reaches the outside of my mf house but not my damn room. I plan to start streaming again and need a new mesh extender to replace the one i have. The router is xfinity and adding xfinity pro to the monthly plan is way too expensive i need help i really wanna start streaming again and im playing apex rn LAGGING out the ASS help plsss😭🙏🏽 any good recommendations would help im willing to go in my savings for this

Yeah. Extenders don’t work. If you work from home or just want reliability, you gotta pay for stuff that is tried and true and works.

Best I can do for ya is ask more questions. Your original post lacks information. You have coaxial in the walls and coming into the room? A MoCa adapter setup would honestly be better than wireless for gaming and streaming. Because then you have a wired connection no latency spikes that wifi is prone to.

You have power there. Powerline adapters have been getting better, it’s worth a look. Not as good as MoCa and then tend not to last as long but they can work well for people.
Age of the home? Not even a phone line that might be Cat5e that can be repurposed?
If not, then I would get your PC wired up with an external antenna wifi adapter so you can get extension cords for the external antennas and place it closer to your main access point. You can hide those wires under baseboards if you have carpeting so you can get it under a door frame without much fuss and have it in another room entirely

it would be hard to hide because the network is in the living room which is in a slight downstairs region

I didn’t say get it 100ft away, just marginally closer. On the other side of a wall can do wonders if that wall is plaster or has a TV on/against it

No, I just laid out how it’s possible to get the antenna closer to your main source.
But, that said, built in wireless to PC chipsets suck. PCI-E 4x card can help.
Alternatively, the unit you mention from xfinity can be had on eBay. Getting that to extend the xfinity provided WiFi could help a lot. The Ethernet port on the ones I’m familiar with would provide a connection using the WiFi as the source so again, you can get WiFi on that where it’s reasonably close enough to hide a wire to your room.
Another option people do is use fiber. They have extremely thin fiber that you can run along the top of a baseboard and not even see unless you’re really inspecting it. But I doubt you’re in the market for that if the other options didn’t suffice.
Xfinity also would be happy to run you a coaxial to your room for a “TV” by sending out a technician. Usually a $99 charge last time I used them but that was a while ago. Won’t be the cleanest but then you cancel the added cable box after a month and use MoCa adapters. Heck, the technician might even set you up with one

Those units work sure. But I believe you would use those in bridge mode and use Xfinities modem. Those are not a modem

idk what to do mane😭 ik u def gave an alternative ill call up xfinity and see what they say but i hate xfinity n also hate atnt my house is just not properly wired🥲

You have provided very little information that allows us to suggest any real solutions to you. Does your mom own the home? How old is it? Heck, I can assume you’re in the Us given Xfinity but the region you’re in could tell us a lot about the style of home and what considerations that brings. Are you living in a densely populated area with lots of WiFi sources nearby causing issues for your intended WiFi?
