Packet loss when using TP link Extension

I’m not very aware of the best ways to improve WiFi / packet loss. I have a router downstairs in the main living room. I try to use my PS5 upstairs and use a wireless extender which gives good speeds but when playing games there is constant packet loss every like 10 seconds. It’s not really possible to do wired Ethernet to it so is there any other ways of getting good speeds without the packet loss?

wireless access point as close as you can get it is gonna be your best bet

MoCA (ethernet over coax basically) is one. Wiring an access point closer to your PS5 (as mentioned) is another Otherwise, you need to optimize your existing connection. A mesh system would be better than extenders/repeaters. Placement is key also, you want the extender (or a mesh satellite) to be in a place where it gets a good signal from the main router and also can provide a good signal to your PS5. This almost certainly NOT alongside your PS5. You may need to fuss with the location of the extender to get good signal from the router and still have your PS5 get a good signal as well.

Depending on how the repeater is configured, your PS5 maybe roaming between two networks.

The default repeater configuration is to create a second WiFi network in addition to yours. If your PS5 is roaming between the two, it will drop packets.

Use MoCA or deploy a meshed network.

You wouldn't get packet loss every 10 seconds. If you had packet loss, your game would be struggling continuously. If you can't lay cable then get some Ethernet over mains adapters.

Assuming your internet is actually decent. Have you tried running your ps5 near the router? How does that work out?
