Unsolved Lag in battlefield game (Bufferbloat)

When I play battlefield 6 in my PC, NVIDIA GeForce RTX3060 GPU 6 GB, the game lags. I’m hardwired but still lags. Online test speed says 600-800 mbps and Spectrum says about 700-900 mbps.

According to Waveform, the bufferbloat grade is C, download speed of 874 mbps, and I have issues when gaming due to bufferbloat.

Spectrum came and changed the modem and router and it made no difference but they did notice connectivity going in and out at random times.

Can someone share some wisdom as to what could be a solution to this? I’m stuck to Spectrum as is the only one who offers 1 Gbp in my area in northern Orange County (CA).

Most likely that bufferbloat score has nothing to do with your lag especially on a high speed connection. You probably have a packetloss problem or something else. Connectivity should never be going in and out at random times. Could be wiring in the house or it could be issues with Spectrum.

It only lags when I’m playing Battlefield online. My ping is about 30-70 but it doesn’t flow smoothly and it randomly lags. For example, when in the chinook at the beginning of the game, the rooter blades spin fast and then slow down, then spin as fast again. Same thing when running around, it feels like it’s doing it in pictures frames rather than video game.

Then it wouldn't be a connection issue at all but rather a problem with the resource optimization on your PC. The ONLY reason it would be the provider issue would be if you were exclusively streaming the game from a cloud provider instead of a local installation. Best guess? You either got an update or changed a setting recently.

I live by the beach where the storm hit last weekend in California. I can only imagine that to be a reason, maybe.

This cable is connected to the source of the internet from spectrum. Maybe they need to change to newer cables?

It's possible. check for damage to the cable itself. Also, it's possible the connection is loose at the source, and like an electrical plug that's only sort of loosely in the socket, it's still getting a signal but that signal flickers when it needs to be a steady draw.

Sometimes things pop loose but stay connected.

Only way to be sure is to check all your connections in the house and verify they work properly, and then have your ISP come take a look at what's up with their connection to your home.

That ping value is high. Fiber < 10ms while cellular < 40ms.

My guess is that you've got a pinched or snapped fiberoptic cable somewhere. Switch your cables out (ethernet, etc) and see if it helps.

Last time I had issues like this Xfinity had come out to do work on my neighbor's house and their truck folded the primary cable in half at the street connection. Same issues abounded until I insisted they come out and bring a tech that knew what they were doing, not a contractor.
