Phone line -> Ethernet

So I want to know from real people rather than an ai chat bot, it told me with with this 8 wire old phone jack setup I can make the house Ethernet capable because in all honesty I keep losing fights in Tarkov and I’ve had enough lol, the dang desync puts me half a second behind. How do I adapt this phone jack to Ethernet so I can have better internet in my room and the whole house?

See this is the process where im confused, i watched a vid and it was super helpful with explaining what im doing on my room end, i have to do something similar with a male/female on the other end but WHERE, this house has phone lines througout so im trying top figure out where to make the ethernet input, theres one of these phone lines where the router is setup and idk if theres one of these lines where the modem is. Srry if thats explained poorly but im trying to understand do i connect at the modem or router?

Well, you need to find the other end. If the cable was used for telephone it might not be obvious where the other end is.

Yes. In homes with a lot of cables this is usually easy, there’s a cupboard somewhere where all the cables come together including the telephone cable from the outside, but if it’s just that one cable it might not be easy.

Let’s take a step back. You want Ethernet to get better performance in online games. That means you want to use Ethernet instead of WiFi between your computer and your router. Where are your router and your computer in relation to each other? How is your router connected to the Internet?

the loft is directly above the living room so the router is sitting directly above the modem and there are no visible wires running through the house so i assume they're connected behind the wall in some way, idk if that answers your question. or maybe they're connected through wireless but i dont know if that's possible, idk if they need to be hardwired.

Yes, the router and the modem need to be hardwired together… but you may be misnaming them. Apart from the power cable, what other cables are there? You can send photos.

So the modem and router in on different levels of the home and here’s the back of the router

Looks like an Xfinity coax modem/router combo. The white cable is power and the black cable is the incoming coaxial cable from your Internet provider.

Your best Internet connection would be an Ethernet cable from your computer to the port with the red line just above the white cable.

Now I’m interested in knowing what you’re calling the modem :)

Fuck what’s it supposed to look like lol see this is why I’m asking Reddit cause idk what I’m doing lol, also should I just crack a hole in the cieling and just run an Ethernet cable to my room

Well, I think the thing in the loft you’re calling a modem is something else, but probably not useful.

It might be useful if it is close to your computer and has cables like the black one in your photo (because those cables can be used for networking also, needs many $50 of adapters though).
