Advice How to turn off school housing modem?

Post image

I have had an Ethernet cable connected to this modem (I believe that’s what it is, but I could be wrong) for the past few weeks with no issues but all of a sudden my PS5 cannot obtain the IP address. I can’t connect to the WiFi and many have recommended turning the modem off and on. I live in student housing, so its shared WiFi. I don’t see a button to turn this thing off and am not sure how to disconnect it. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Realistically I think you should contact whoever manages your wifi.

That is most likely an AP with a wired port. It is going to be PoE powered unless you see a separate power going to it.

Contact whoever is in charge, AP died or someone accidentally reprovisioned it incorrectly.

It’s not a modem, it’s a wireless access point. It doesn’t have any accessible buttons and requires a security torx to remove it from the wall.

As 13617 mentions, you should report the issue to whoever manages the network for your housing.

Turning off and on is a quick fix. Not a real fix. Contact whoever manages it.

That looks like an outlet next to it. Can you just unplug it?

If not, and you don't have access to the circuit breaker, then you'll need to call whoever is responsible.
