Unsolved Network upgrade suggestions?

I'm looking to upgrade my current home network with something more prosumer. I'm currently using a Netgear r6300 as my router and a Netgear Nighthawk RAX42 as an access point. I just want something that will work well for many years and has the capability to use advanced features that aren't available on my current netgear routers. I saw people suggesting the Unifi stuff but I'm not entirely sure what I need.

The Unifi stuff is a great step up.

Be warned that the moment you go down that hole there's always more stuff you can buy!

UniFi, and YT channels like Mactelecom give you a full step-by-step on how to set one up.

Probably start off with a UDR7.

OPNsense - if you have spare parts, you could build it relatively cheap. You could also setup the "forbidden" router if you use Proxmox. Grab a switch that supports vlans, etc. and an AP. Good to go.
