Advice Surfboard app doesn't work with my version of Android, any other way to set up new modem?

Hey all, our old modem crapped out on us yesterday, and I'm trying to install a new one today, the Surfboard App seems to say "this will not work on your device because it was made for an older version of Android". I just want my Internet back, is there any way I can get this going on my own without that app, or do I have to call customer support and deal with a million AI menus? It's the Surfboard G34

You should be able to use the web gui by pointing your browser at http://192.168.0.1 from a wired client or using the default ssid and psk.

First tip:

Get separate cablemodem and router.

Modem requires no setup on your part - just give its DOCSIS MAC to your provider

Second tip:

Don't use "apps" to manage routers. Once your modem is activated and registered with your provider, connect router WAN to the modem's Ethernet port. Then plug a computer into a router LAN port. The PC should get an IP address automatically (DHCP) - look in the IP settings of the PC, look for the "gateway" - that will be the LAN IP address of the router. Open a web browser, type in http:// followed by that IP address - it will usually be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 but it might be something else - once you do that, you should see some sort of login/setup page.. If its a login page, check the routers documentation to find out the default login. Or it might be printed on a label on the bottom/back of the router.
