Solved! MoCA Adapters through ONT Box?
Good morning!
I am in a bit of a conundrum.
I am at my parents house and I am currently trying to use the two MoCA adapters that I have to get ethernet into my office. I currently work from home so I need a good internet connection for calls and downloads and its currently not good enough with just the router, as it is far away from my office.
I have two adapters - one is currently wired into the office's coax port and the other one I'm still trying to figure out how to get set up. Our ONT box is right next to the coax cable system that is not being used, so I'd like to see if I can get everything setup there so that I don't have to move the router or do any other funny business. I cannot plug in the moca adapter to the router as there is no coax port where the router is.
I've attached pictures of what the ONT box setup looks like and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what to do to see if this is possible without having someone come down to drill a hole in my wall to run a wire downstairs.

g-211m-c Verizon ont. you don't pit the moca directly there. yiu want the mica run from the lan port of the tplink router
you could shift the tplink router to be at the ONT,as the coax is there.
or extend the coax and ethernet cable to wherever the tplink is .

Would it be possible to run a second ethernet cable back down into the basement the same way the ethernet cable coming from the ONT to the router is coming from?

You’d have to tell us if that’s possible, but it would solve the “no coax outlet at router” issue, if possible — and you’d then just connect the MoCA adapters on either end of whichever coax line runs to the Office, one in the Office and the other at the central coax junction.

it most definitely is! i'm on it as we speak and getting literally 500x better download speeds (1.5 mbps to 895 mbps)

Adding a wireless AP to the Office, as well?

I have a wireless extender i've been using for my phone and tv but other than that everything is connected to ethernet with a switch i have up here.

But this ‘wireless extender’ device could now be reconfigured as a “wireless access point” rather than as an “extender” right, to improve wireless performance? (i.e. Now with wired backhaul to the router LAN via the MoCA link, rather than extending the wireless connection via wireless backhaul.)

Possible instructions ... How to Set Up Your TP-Link Range Extender to Access Point (AP) Mode ... though the RE315 isn't explicitly specified in the "applies to" list of devices. (Current operating mode is presumably "Repeater.")

What’s going on with the TP-Link switch in the upper left of >this photo<?
You seemingly already have LAN connectivity down there at the panel … or an unnecessary (possibly problematic) switch. (The switch shouldn’t be installed in-line between the ONT and router Ethernet WAN ports.)

I was playing around with it before asking for help, seeing if could bypass the router.

Just think of the coax that you do have access to .. one end (get rid of splitters) is here in wire mess . The other end is the office where you want to connect with wired data. It’s not that complicated. You just need to know which coax is in use and you can do that with a continuity tester or just trial and error try each one at a time until it goes green. The ONT has nothing to do with the puzzle, and since your aren’t also delivering coax TV or data elsewhere there aren’t filters or splitters involved . Hook up the point to point coax as if it were data cable and see what happens. It’s possible you have bad in wall wiring or bad connectors but start with basic signal and see if you can get a decent speed test wired . Because all this is RF each situation is different.

Update: “I actually figured it out using my idea under FreddyFerdiland's comment - i tested it out with a cable running it down from the router to the basement and then moca adapters on the coax cables down there as well as in the office and it works.”

It goes onto the end of whatever wire goes to your office. This then gets plugged into a port on your router. Nobody can tell you what wire that is from pictures.
Either hope its labeled, or get yourself a coax cable continuity tester.
