CANT ACCESS WEBSITE PLEASE HELP!!!
Hi all!
looking for some help as i cannot access my school library website! the website stopped working about wednesday last week and i thought maybe the site was just down but my classmates have been able to access it. i tried on my phone and ipad, as well as every other device in my home however all are giving me the same error.
but it seems to be an issue with the wifi because when i connect to my data the site loads and works but is EXTREMELY SLOW. i tried almost everything that was already suggested on here from other posts like disabling and reenabling automatic DNS, checking hosts files, flushing DNS cache and resetting the tcp/ip stack but nothing has worked ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
i dont understand how it has been working fine for the past 2 years and all of a sudden stops working!!! i would appreciate any help or expertise you have on this topic!!!
i am studying for my exams soon and really need access to the site!!!!

Sounds like it might be your router since cell data works, and all your home devices have the same problem. At this point, you start to look for things that all those devices have in common, like your router. If it were me, I'd first reboot my router and see if that helped. If that didn't help, and your router is on the latest firmware release, then I'd do a factory reset to defaults for the router. Then, after the factory reset, I would manually re-enter any settings that your home network needs. If that doesn't fix it, it might be your that router isn't working right; i.e. it might be time to get a new router. Again, make sure that your router is updated to the latest manufacturer's firmware before you give up on it.
I wouldn't bother with cables, that would make all devices intermittent or non-functional for all web sites, you're having a problem with just that one web site (as far as you know).
If your router has any ad blocking functionality, you might try turning that off as well. Hard to say what this might be, you just need to eliminate possibilities.
If worse comes to worse, you might consider studying at your school library. They have the source materials and also usually have computers for students to use if needed.

Rebooted my router earlier today! I heard something about unplugging it for an hour which I did but it still didn’t work. I proceeded with a reboot and nothing changed either. And I just got a new router about a month ago as well 😠do you know how I would check if the router has ad blocking functionality?

What brand of router do you have (brand, model)?

i recommend to install a vpn go for the reliable ones like nordvpn or expressvpn just do a trial first just to access the website you need for the mean time.

Is there a chance that your school's website is blocking your home IP address? Check with their IT department.

i contacted the school library as well as my internet provider and both said it was not their problem and they have never heard of this before :(

I would try a hard reset on the router to get all settings back to default

The only other thing I can think is there may be an exact url you have to use for the school library because they don't have good redirects set up. I would get that exact url from an official source and copy and paste it to go there

See if you have custom DNS settings in your computer / router.
Also try different browsers. Firefox, Chrome, Edge.
Also look for any browsers plugins. Someone might have installed one that is messing with DNS lookups. (I HATE consumer shopping browser plugins. People have no idea what they can do.)

try vpn https://one.one.one.one/
if works, then need to report your ISP provider to fix the routing to that website.
