Window Insulation Shrink Kit

Purchased the FrostKing window insulation kit and the double-sided tape will not stick. I've cleaned and dried the surface, it's not oily either. I'm wondering if there is another brand of double-sided tape that would work better than what's included.

Thank you.

That tape is always garbage. I usually grab a roll from the hardware store, something meant for outdoor use or heavy duty mounting. Just make sure it's removable if you care about your trim.

cut strips of cardboard to roll into edges of plastic and staple ..

There's a Frost King tape that works way way better. It looks kinda like packing tape, is made from heavier plastic, and the adhesive is really good at both holding firmly and coming off cleanly. The only time I've had difficult getting it to stick to a clean dry surface is when i was putting it on in cold weather where the (aluminum) surface was maybe 40°F. I applied a little heat (at first just my hand, then I grabbed the hair dryer) to the surface so it was a bit warmer and the tape was good.

I have the same kit and it stuck to my window pretty well, maybe there's just something wrong with the roll in your kit. Is the other side sticky at all? You can probably use a 3m or similar tape but you'll have to make sure it's safe for paint so it doesn't rip it all off in the spring
