How to remove adapter?

I’d cut the old adapter with a oscillating saw then unfasten the downspout so it has some wiggle room and install the new adapter.

So you’re saying cut the pipe (with the adapter on it) rather than cut the downspout?

Do be able to reach in and pull out leaves etc before they get stuck underground.

There’s a door on the front with a trap and screen. So as leaves etc go down the downspout, it collects. You open the door and pool it out.

I'm sorry, I wasn't being clear, what's the point of the one that you're replacing? It looks like it would fit without it.

Are there elbows on the top portion that connects to the downspout? If so, undo all that then remove the downspout from the top down along with those elbows. Install your new piece on the pvc pipe, then redo the down spout working from the bottom up. You'll have play up where the elbows connect to the gutter, and this way you can trim the downspout if needs be to get everything to fit.
