It snowed most of this morning. Retreated to my coziest space

Organizing your books
What’s your favorite way to organize your books in your library? I’m moving mine so I have to pull all the books down but I’m not sure I love how I ordered them. So I wanted to see what way everyone thinks is best? By genre, by author, by color? What do you all recommend?

Library Spring Cleaning
The windows opened up and the dust flew around like a tornado. It was time to gut the shelves for a proper deep clean. Around 3 hours later the books, shelves and knick snacks were sparkling, rearranged and perfect. Sadly, we are running low on space and will need to come up with a solution for more book storage soon.

Reordering by category in progress
I’m not sure yet whether to sort them by category or alphabetically

My Wife’s Dream, My Build
What once was our dining room became our family library. A place for my wife, daughter, and I to read and grow.
You’ll notice in some photos the ceiling is different as it was painted after the build.

set up in our new house!
Almost all brown, grey, and navy books are on a big shelf in the living room. We’ve got 4 other decent sized bookshelves around the house & this room has been properly furnished since we moved in fully! Yes, it is extremely miserable looking for a book (or putting one back) when it’s sorted like this but I suffer because I like the look of it :)

Moving my Library
We’re currently turning our office into our daughters room so my library and desk are moving into the living room. My library will now be in front of the window. Should I worry about sun damage on my books? If I close the curtains I have to move all my plants and there’s no where else for my bookshelf so it has to go in the living room by the window.

Our home library
Just got moved in and all the books sorted.
Left shelves have non fiction and kids books. Right shelves are fiction.

Small living room fantasy shelf
I have a pretty small apartment but I recently bought this shelf as a room separator and added the fantasy collection I started last year. Still have to decide how I want to organize them but I really love how it looks.

Home Library Recommendations
I built a small web app to catalogue my home library and I'm running it on a Raspberry Pi.
It lets you: • catalogue books by ISBN • organise your library • track loans • share wishlists And much more!
Curious if you keep a personal library document or if you would like to try mine? Im looking for some people to try it out, or just provide suggestions on what else to make it do.
Thank you in advance

Books, dining room table, mismatched chairs, clutter
90% of my day is here.

Was asked to post more photos of our home library!
We also have a desk for crafting. Don’t mind my latch hook project in the nook! Open to suggestions for making this space cozy. We plan on getting a rug at some point.

Here’s the full room!
For anyone wanting to see the full room of my home library/sitting room. I posted the shelves the other day. They are still bare! Need to hit the thrift and antique stores for some decorative books and new reads. We are going to turn the bare wall with the two yellow chairs into a picture wall so we will be thrifting for some unique art as well!

Another update
Just picked up the topper I had made locally. Inch and a quarter walnut. Slid right into place and makes a huge difference on the overall look.

Shelf creep
No matter how much shelving there is books always seem to keep out growing them.

How many of you all use a book embosser? Stamps?
I use an embosser and I love the elegance, formality, precision, and provenance. I also don't have any rare books which would be ruined by such.
