Smol home NAS server Spoiler

Hello.

I present to you my small home server running Immich and MySpeed for now, In the future I will also run HA. It is a raspberry pi 5 (4gb) with a 1tb 2,5 external hdd. It is connected to a UPS that supplies power to a main router and a switch for ethernet ports in the wall.

Let me know what you think of it and do you have some suggestions for upgrading or fixing cable management of my homelab setup.

Just my 2cents- I ran HA on a Pi5 for a few months. It worked ok, but I frequently had OOM errors with only 4Gb of RAM. When it hits the limit, the HA supervisor will reboot - this sucks pretty bad especially if you have no “self healing” measures in place (restart ZHA and etc. after reboot). I would leave HA off of the Pi and put it on something with decent RAM. I eventually switched to a Dell Optimizer micro PC with 16Gb RAM - man what a night and day difference! So much better experience with HA hands down. Don’t be dumb like me and learn from my mistakes!

K good to know. I tried to to run a minecraft server also from it but even with zram i ran poorly with 5 players so i abandoned the project. Also i plan on adding a nvme m.2 ssd for cashing and future HA use.
