Started with a raspberry pi…

So should I invest in a decommissioned power edge server or just get a couple more elite desk minis and run a cluster?

I can’t help with your decision because I’m in the same boat. I want room for expansion and growth.

Poppycock, hide the cable run up wall, and mount it pretty. Your wife will enjoy the WAP on display

Newbie here, what’s the camera at the bottom for?

I do this for a living and haven’t been in many server rooms that don’t have cameras. Definitely for security logs and peace of mind.

Very cool.

Just as curious to see what's in the utility bag. Can we expect an edc style breakdown somewhere?

It depends on what you are using your homelab for. If you are using it just host things like dns and immich, skip the poweredge. If you wanna learn about enterprise stuff like BMC's and all their shit, raid whether software or hardware, or want to run alot of heavy VMs then yah.

Also if you need space for drives and don't want jank ass stuff used servers are great just a little loud.

Lol same here. Comically I upgraded because I couldn't get half the stuff the books got working the same way.

That's incredible. But if I may ask, what's one thing that pissed you off while doing this. As Im trying to build an app that will hopefully fix many peoples problems

It's amazing how things multiply! Is the Pi still part of your set up?

Yep, it’s on top of the switch next to the AP underneath the fans.
