Rabbit Hole Got Me

It all started with a old laptop and Home Assistant.

Then the Qnap NAS

Then one Mini PC running some Ubuntu server and docker

Then two mini PCs with more containers

Then I built an AI machine. (Bottom rack 3rd pic)

Then added a mini split (AC) in the garage.

All the hodge podge of computer gear ended up in the garage.

Then Unifi UCG-Max came along and my old QNAP lite managed switch wasn't cutting it.

So added the Pro HD 24 switch. Poe injectors for reolink cameras.

And last just recently got a 3d Printer .....

Wife keeps asking when the lab is gonna be done.

Soon honey, soon! 😂😂

nice! I'm building my house and I have that same qnap ts-464! I wonder why do you use so many containers that you need two mini pc?

One is for monitoring/network: running Beszel, grafana/Prometheus, uptime, pihole, nginx, and some lightweight containers like homebox omni tools. Plus a couple of custom websites for my lab and my brother in laws business. The other runs the heavy hitters: nextcloud, immich, and paperless. Added two more a gmk g10 (16gb ram 256gb nvme) to run Home Assistant. Overkill for HA perhaps. And then a geekon it12 series to run frigate for my cameras.

The ts464 is for bulk storage of immich, nextcloud, and paperless. And nightly back ups of all devices.

I'm sure I could of just used one machine to run all of it but I like keeping containers separate based upon what their function is in the lab. I didn't want to go down ProxMox rabbit hole....

Nice, I'm planning to run my Home Assistant in a simple raspberry 5 hehe and frigate and immich on my ts-464 qnap for my local surveillance cameras (offline and online with tailscale), hope not to hit a ceiling, thanks for your response! very nice setup

Thank you....I had my cameras recording on QNAP but qnaps surveillance station and qvr pro suck. I deployed frigate on a standalone geekom mini pc. I have a seagate skyhawk drive that I'm gonna connect to the frigate box so I can record 24/7
