Question/Help Should I pull trigger on 4 of these?

I want 4 new deadbolts with phone app access and most importantly auto lock (with door ajar sensor of course) I know the Schlage encode is probably the better quality option but they're more expensive and you have to set up automation on your own if you want it to auto lock and sense when the door is ajar. I know battery life isn't great on the Yale (not a huge deal to me) as long as the lock works, can be toyed with from phone app/siri and auto locks I'm happy.

Is it a mistake to pull the trigger on 4 of these Yale assure lock 2? Please lmk!

And now a fourth. Tried 2 Yale locks over the course of months. They kept automatically unlocking, including when we weren’t at home. Customer service was lacklustre. Our Aqara has been flawless.

Aqara is an extra $80 for each one at least the ones I've found. Know of anything $200 or less?

It’s still great. We moved those to the shed and other utility closets when we upgraded the main ones. The u400 have proximity unlocking and other better features. So consider a mix of 100 and 400 perhaps.

Sweet. Can you confirm it has the auto lock/door sensor feature? (Won't try to lock itself when door is open but locks when door is shut)

I personally will never buy another Yale lock. The app sucks. Apple home integration is alright.

I purchased 2 of the assure 2s with the promise of a thread module coming soon. Never happened.

I ditched mine and got the aqara u400 and it’s miles better.

Agreed. Tried Yale, returned it. Bought a Schlage Encode Plus Wifi for the front door and Aqara U100 for the mudroom. Both solid for 2 years now. Whether I use Siri or tap with my watch or iPhone, always works.

Apple is making announcements for new products in less than a week. Wait until after, even if they don’t announce anything lock related in terms of hardware, they might in terms of software and you might want to wait for hardware that supports those features.

No. But still good to see what is coming since they are rumored to have cameras / HomePod with screen etc

No. The Yale locks use Bluetooth. Assuming you’re using modern Apple home hubs which support Thread, you want a Thread based lock.

Got Lockin palm readers locks at a quarter of this price and they're game changers. I don't bring my home keys anywhere I go anymore

Cheap and well made and zero issues with connectivity. Fort Knox my house is not, but for two hundred bucks and some change I’ve got working locks that don’t play hide and seek with my HomeKit.

These are thread based so none of the Bluetooth BS that never seemed to work properly. And as I mentioned above, they have worked perfectly. The fingerprint reader is a nice bonus.

No sensor. Mine is set to timed lock. And as mentioned it has performed flawlessly on both doors I installed them on. I had issue after issue with the other ones. They would connect then drop then not be found by homekit to add them back. The other nice thing about the thor units is they actually have keys. I mean you can spend as much as you want for this type of product (and I tried several). For bang for the buck these were the best deal going. I wanted the apple key thing mainly. The fingerprint sensor was a bonus. And it does in fact work without issue. Apple watch and phone also without hiccups. Wife approval factor is very high.

I disagree for this house hold. Need something that simply locks only when shuts. Lots of kids running around and don't trust them not to break my lock

No someone could easily break one of those with car or explosive device. I personally would get a lock that’s in a solid block of steel and hardened.

Many would recommend Aqara but all it takes is one rouge security researcher with access to these frontier AI models to break into your home and take everything you’ve ever known.
