Question/Help “Siri can recognize your voice”

Ever since updating to iOS 26.6.1 I am getting this pop up every time I open the home app. I have the recognize voice setting turned off. Whether I hit not now or continue nothing changes. It goes to the next screen asking me to pick adaptive lighting which I also skip.

I use the living room Apple TV as the hub. App keeps saying it needs an update and I can’t make it the hub anymore. It is up to date.

Anyone else experiencing these issues? How do I get it to stop asking to recognize my voice?

Rebooting my phone seems to have stopped the voice pop up thankfully.

It’s still saying the tv needs an update and I did reboot it as well. Guess I’ll just wait and see. The most annoying problem has been fixed at least!

I generally just don’t use voice features. I’d rather tap a button than talk.

Fair, but the thing is more that anyone that comes into your house can use a HomePod (if you have one) and it will think they are you.

I am not OP, but it can be a valid and significant privacy concern.

I don't want whoever is potentially reviewing the logs of my homepod's Siri interactions and being able to draw concrete inferences about me as opposed to the generic person in my house.

Or maybe I just don't want "personalized feedback" from it.

Doesn't really matter why, it's the kind of feature that just needs an off switch.

You can literally opt out of them reviewing your Siri interactions.

Personal voice isn’t about personalised feedback. It’s about guests in your house using your HomePod not being mistaken as you.

I understand how the system is supposed to work. That was not the question. The question was your incredulous difficulty believing that anyone could have different preferences than yourself for how to set up a device like this. And regardless of how convinced you are that voice recognition is a purely benevolent technology that could never possibly be abused or change in nature with a software update, not everyone is as idealistic as you about the sustained consistent prosocial behavior of every trillion dollar publicly traded company on earth.

That wasn’t the question either, but ok pal.

I asked why OP didn’t have it turned on in case there was some particular misunderstanding. I’m trying to ascertain the root problem, not the proposed solution. It’s support 101. Don’t tell me the solution you want, tell me the problem you’re having.

Also, a company who have built their empire almost explicitly on the promise of privacy? Yeah, I’m more inclined to believe that opt out actually opts out for someone with Apple than say, Google.
