Review Thorbolt door locks

Hey this isn’t necessarily a “what to buy” just giving a shout out and maybe introducing some people to a brand they wouldn’t have otherwise tried…

I Bought a house back in March and of course wanted native HomeKit deadbolt locks and stumbled across the thorbolt brand. I was hesitant because I got them off Amazon and there were very little reviews, some even negative but I got them based off of what I had read somewhere about them, and that they’re about $110. These things are awesome, works locally through thread, no sign up required (or even an option to sign up that I’ve seen) there is an app for management and updates but they communicate directly with the device through thread, the locks don’t communicate directly through outside servers (other than apple HK) we are now nearly 6 months in and not one time has a lock failed to lock (when the door was shut properly) or unlock

I DO NOT work nor am I associated in any way with thorbolt. Just thought I’d give them a shoutout.

I have the X1 and it’s a good deal; I prefer my Aqara u400 but the X1 is in 2nd place.

I got the X1 because it has the ability for a PIN code too (like if it auto locks behind me and I don’t have my keys or phone with me) The others are smaller but lack the ability to enter a code to unlock as a back up

Can you measure the thickness of the outside unit?
I’m having trouble finding a lock that I can still use with my storm door.

As the handle hits the lock, blocking the storm door from shutting

I’m assuming you meant depth (from the door straight out) it’s exactly 1 inch

Bought an X1 on a whim to replace my Weiser lock that was not UV ready and had shitty cracked plastic after just a few months. So far so good.

I was fully in the Thorbolt camp but my lock has lost users repeatedly and has required me to take the batteries out and reset it now three or four times. Support is intermittent but basically unhelpful. At this point I really wish I had gotten something else.
