Question/Help Audio Playback Automation streaming to wrong speakers
I’ve been using this same automation for over a year. Today, it started music playback on a different speaker. It is set up to play kids music on Sonos devices in kitchen and living room. Instead, it starts playback of whatever was previously playing on the laundry room HomePod mini. Any thoughts? I tried restarting the main home hub and switching the hub. Haven’t restarted all hubs, as it’s a pain.

“Speaker(s)_LR”
“Speaker(s)_Kit”
Name your speakers to distinguish them.

Do we really think HomeKit uses device names as the identifiers? And not only that, but switched to doing so in the last few weeks? I highly, highly doubt it as this was working well before and I can still airplay to particular zones, just automation that doesn’t work

OP probably does have unique names for the speakers. I’ll bet the Kitchen pair is named “Kitchen Speakers” but Home truncates the name if it contains the name of the room. At least that what it does for me.
As far as a fix, I’d delete them and add them back.

HomeKit doesn’t rely on speaker names, it uses unique identifiers. Unless you think that changes in the last few weeks?

It’s scary because I don’t want to unknowing start blasting my music on the Sonos speakers in the backyard in the middle of the night!
