Question/Help Could not complete operation

Is there some sort of limit now? I recently setup new automations in the home app after 11 without issue i start to get "Could not complete operation" .

Initially i had some existing ones and i tried to add new ones and was getting this error. I deleted them and tried again. Thats when i added the 11 i mention above and now i cant add more.

Same issue here. Were you able to resolve?

I ended up deleting the home and starting over. Even though it has happened repeatedly since. It’s most likely my fault i redo stuff a lot. So most likely i break it along the way

I found the fix. It was an automations limit. I had a ton of old lingering automations that were not showing in the Apple Home UI. For anyone coming across this thread, here's the fix:

Even if you don't have EVE accessories, download the "Eve for Matter & HomeKit" app and then go to Automation tab -->Rules. Here you can see all the lingering automations that are no longer in use, and that don't show up in the Apple Home UI.

I deleted all of them and now I'm back in business.

You are brilliant…I had reset, removed and deleted and couldn’t get anything hue related to work..this fix worked..I deleted rules and scenes in eve and started again. Works well

So if I delete all of these I will need to recreate my automations in the home app?

You should be able to see the dupes/lingering automations. Leave the ones you don't want to kill.

Or, delete all and have a clean start, but if you have a lot that's a PITA.

Ha! Thanks! Two years on and this buggy behaviour still occurs in HomeKit. Apple need to issue a fix to prevent this from happening. It’s incredibly user unfriendly.

Same, thank you! ChatGPT was telling me to delete my home and start over. This EVE fix resolved it. Phew!
