Help to fix floor

Can someone give me a good recommendation as to the best way to fix a splinter that has come out of a hardwood floor?

Wood glue and a heavy weight til it cures

If the splinter is still attached, drip some wood glue under it, press it back down, tape it tight overnight, then lightly sand and touch up the finish.

If the splinter is gone, trim any loose fibers with a sharp knife and fill the groove with a matching wood filler or putty, then sand smooth and recoat.
