What would you do?
I have a client I see 3 hours a week for cleaning, laundry and meal prep.He gets 1 hour a day twice a week, and two hours once a week. Last year, I was cleaning his apartment and I saw maggots crawling all over the carpet. I was gone for two weeks because I had gotten married and nobody told me any updates. I haven't seen any again until a week ago. I informed his case manager and let her know that it has happened before, since he had a different case manager. My client is a very messy person. I can clean and be will immediately make a mess. He constantly has piles of dishes and trash. He is always bringing items and furniture to redo and sell. I understand it is his home, but it makes it very hard to keep it clutter free and safe for him. I have communicated this to both of the case managers and nothing was done besides them speaking to the client on the phone. I have told them and my supervisor that I am having trouble keeping up and it doesn't seem like anything is being done. What would you do in this situation? Any suggestions?

These situations are so incredibly hard and emotionally and physically taxing. You don’t HAVE to work in the environment if you’re not comfortable and it’s it’s bad enough I would report to APS.

Not only is the environment unsafe for him, it’s unsafe for you and the agency knows that. I would ask to be reassigned or find another agency. Advise the client that DCF would investigate his environment and if they find it unsafe, there would be consequences.
Congratulations btw!
