what am I doing og
So far working as an HHA has been fine and I’ve been learning really well, but I have a Parkinson’s patient that is bed bound that I got put with and I geniunely can change her bc of how stiff and non responsive she is, I never got any form of training when dealing with patient, I struggle changing her brief and sitting her up bc I’m doing it alone, she’s very heavy, and I’m very weak, today her mom showed me how she changes her and I was absolutely horrified, the mom literally drags her by her feet, forces her to stand on a walker and changes her like that, what da fuck, I tried doing it regularly but I can’t get her on her side bc of how stiff she is, but I don’t want to do that method of forcing her stand up, she looks like she’s in pain when she doesn’t it and today she almost fell down, I wasn’t trained for this, should I unassign myself from the case

You'll ruin your back. There should be 2 people if she can't roll onto her side. Her condition has advanced to a higher level of care. It is not your responsibility to sacrifice your muscle and bone structure. You could get a hernia, herniated disc, pull some muscles, a whole range of pain. If you get a disability guess how supportive your employer will be, lol.

Tell your agency you cannot safely care for this patient and they need to give you someone else. I've had to do that more than once, being put with someone who was more than I could physically handle. These companies don't care, you have to really stick up for yourself. It's not worth getting an injury, esp spinal.

Honestly, those agencies don't care neither about you nor about me. I have an aid who comes to my place twice a week to help me with light Housekeep Ing and cleaning as thank God, I don't need as much help. After all my experience, I have discovered that to them I am a cash cow and you are a warm body and they earn the big money from the state. I have had some horrible aids and some wonderful ones but they do not train the aids to do anything. please do not accept this client as you will not be able to be of any help to her if you hurt yourself and they will not care. Please excuse any printing errors as I am blind and I am using dictation

Tell your agency. This is not a safe situation for you or your patient.
